Reclaiming My Time

Hello All! Sorry for disappearing on you guys. I was on a much needed hiatus trying to get my life in order. I felt myself getting to a point where I was beginning to feel overwhelmed (a feeling I know all too well), so instead of succumbing to the anxiety that comes with it, I decided to step back, prioritize, and figure things out. The old me would’ve just tried to continue doing everything I’d set my mind to with no regard to my mental or physical health. During the past few weeks I was able to

spend more time with my baby, handle some personal business, and set clear goals. I try to use periods like this as a lesson for myself to avoid getting here again. Truthfully there is no strict formula to avoid it when you’re raising a child, building businesses, working full time, and trying to maintain just a pinch of a social life. This sums it up perfectly:

I applaud those who are able to handle it all, but I haven’t mastered that level of time management yet. I’m trying to make it a habit to get up by 5am to get more done. I want to be at a place where I can get a work out routine going, make breakfast, and still get to work on time. I’m pretty much on the right track. I just need to add the work out routine to my schedule. Working on this new morning routine has been a big part of my hiatus, and I must say I’m happy about where I’m taking myself. My vision is clear, and now I just have to try to perfect the execution. It was important for me to drill in my head that the execution can change daily, and the best way for me to keep up with it is to expect the unexpected. Have plan A, B, and C ready to go just in case things don’t work out the way I planned. So I’m just rolling with the punches as they come.
In the past few weeks I took the time to invest in my first DSLR camera, and I’m so in love with it! I felt like it was important for me to take this step because it’s proving to myself that I’m fully invested in taking my blogging to the next level. I’m still learning how to use it, but I’m loving everything about it so far.

While on my hiatus, Jaylin and I did our first sponsored post with Leveret Clothing. It was so much fun to create and shoot it! Being a newbie at this, I had to research looks, figure out what works for us and our setting, and most of all get Jaylin to sit still long enough to take the pictures. Overall we had a good time. The pajamas were actually very comfortable and light. I assumed that the fabric would be too heavy for Jaylin to actually feel comfortable in, but that wasn’t the case at all. These were the final images:

I also attended a networking event presented by Maya and Mattie. Two sisters who give advice on being an entrepreneur. I love reading their content, and it was a pleasure meeting them both. We talked about the steps I should take as I move forward on my blogging journey, and I left the event feeling good about the direction I’m going in.

I’m looking forward to continuing to bring you guys great content, and assist you with growing your blogs and businesses as I grow mine. I know many of you are moms, and like me, you’re also trying to make things work for you and your families, and my goal here is to obtain and spread knowledge and wisdom for us all. Sometimes it might seem like things are too hard, and there’s no way to do it all, but there is. We just have to remain consistent and driven. We’ll get there. For the past few days, whenever I was feeling down about goals and needed a quick pick me up, I’d look at Cardi-B. Whether you love her or hate her, you have to admit that her story is inspirational! We literally watched her climb from the bottom to the top in about two years. She is fearlessly living her dreams with a number one hit. You have to be inspired by that. You have to know that you can do it too!

So in a nutshell, that’s pretty much what I’ve been up to. Getting to it and getting through it. Also, I promise to bring back the giveaways this week! Stay tuned!
